Dec 03, 2012 Ruger serial numbers This is a discussion on Ruger serial numbers within the Collectors forums, part of the Firearm Forum category; I have from my late father a Standard Ruger with the red emblem on the grips. It has a 4 digit serial number. The above chart shows the approximate first serial number shipped for the indicated year. This number should be used as a point of reference only. It is not necessarily the very first serial number shipped, but it can be used to determine the approximate year your Ruger firearm was shipped.

Location: Montana | welcome, kool henry. there should be a page/link on the ruger website that will give you the age according to the serial number. if you can't find that for your red label, you could always call customer service, and they could look up the serial number and year for you. |

Location: Minnesota | How old is my Red Label Thanks for to suggestion to check out Ruger's web. The serial numbers are posted by starting serial number for every year ,starting in 1995. Pre '95' you would have to contact Ruger and their is a 10$ fee. Pre '95' serial numbers are still on paper, as far as I understand, but Ruger will investiagate and give you the proper year. I was lucky as my gun was one of the early '95's' and was one of the first 300 built. Thanks again for the advice. B-Kool Kool Henry |
